Keith_history_buff Posted 20 June , 2022 Share Posted 20 June , 2022 Sharrad Holland Gilbert (1867-1961) served in the Leicestershire Regiment during WW1, later transferring to the Labour Corps. He served in the Imperial Yeomanry during the Boer War and published a book about his experiences "RHODESIA AND AFTER: Being the Story of the 17th and 18th Battalions of I.Y." In more recent years it has been republished by Naval & Military Press. An index of first name, last name, service number and unit were compiled many moons ago by researcher Kevin Asplin, of those records now digitised by Ancestry.
