Would anyone be able and willing to check this list for me at Shropshire Archives, Castle Gates, Shewsbury.

I am seeking any men with the surname ROWLES.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Does one exist?

I can't see it listed by Chris Baker on The Long Long Trail:

I have just had a response this morning from the Shrewsbury Archive.

While they do not have the 1918 list they do hold the 1919 list.

If I was closer I would look myself but I live in Devon.

That's interesting.
Is it just Shrewsbury, or all of Shropshire?
Perhaps you would send the details to Chris Baker so that he can update his LLT website.
Every AVL unearthed can potentially help positively identify thousands of Great War soldiers, by matching their service numbers to an address.

Great find by the way.

The honest answer is I don't know.

I only enquired about Shrewsury and they sent a message saying it was available for 1919.

I guess when somebody has taken a look we will have more information.

They hold the AVL for the Parliamentary County of Salop

Oswestry Div

Wrekin Div

Shrewsbury Div

Ludlow Div

Each with >5K names.

I got copies (1918 ones) years ago and details were passed on for inclusion on the list.

I'll root out the names (if any) in the Shrewsbury Div and let you know when done.

I have just noticed you specify 1919. You've covered the 1918 ones?  As it happens I have 1918 and 1919 for Shrewsbury Div but only 1918 for the others.

I'll take 1918 and 1919 if I can get them.

I didn't know the 1918 was available.
