Remembered Today:

"High Road to China" film set in 1920s, starring Tom Selleck

I guess that "High Road to China" just about qualifies as a WWI film, as it features a former US air ace who's taken to drink. There are a few scenes at an RAF camp in Afghanistan (I think), where in the mess he recounts his exploits and bitterly recall that some of his "kills" were of barely trained German pilots. And there's a very good dog-fight with a German pilot.

IMDB review

Later in the film, Patrick O'Malley seems to be able to replenish fuel, ammunition and bombs from nowhere, and the love interest, as is so often the case with females enduring privation in films, has a plentiful supply of make-up. I started to lose patience when the duo got to China.

Robert Morley and Brian Blessed are, as ever, plus factors.

It's said that the three bi-planes in the film were all vintage Belgian-designed French-built Stampe SV4C aircraft built after WWII, though they portray World War I era bi-planes. But see here.
