Remembered Today:

2/Lt Brian Bertie Lemon - any 40 Sqn combat reports for him?

Brian Lemon was a pilot with 40 Sqn from 7 April till 23 June 1917.

On 2 May 17 Lemon and Bond, Morgan and Walder destroyed four German balloons.

Does anyone here happen to have a copy of the combat report(s) for this event, or for any other combats Lemon may have been engaged in?

TIA,

Errol

Hi

You can find the reports at the National Archives, Kew. The Combat reports for 40 Squadron are downloadable for £3:50 or are free if you sign in. This one deals with the balloon  combats that you are interested in :- Reports: Combats in the air: 40 Squadron Royal Flying Corps, Royal Air Force: September... | The National Archives

There are reports on balloon attacks for 2nd May 1917 by Morgan, Bond, Thompson, Walder, MacKenzie & Lemon

Many thanks Steve, much appreciated.

I'd completely forgotten about the download facility for these reports.

Cheers,

Errol
