Felix C Posted 28 April , 2022 Share Posted 28 April , 2022 (edited) I was reading on the Irish War and there was a casualty comparison between Ireland and Mesopotamia in 1920. The number for Ireland was much lower 50-odd police and IIRC 18 soldiers killed. The number in the Subject line was due to quarrels with Shiah groups who refused integration into the Iraq/Irak Mandate. Is there a book covering the actions of this period? Jervis Posted 28 April , 2022 Share Posted 28 April , 2022 Charles Townshend wrote When God made hell on the British in Mesopotamia in this period. He has also wrote extensively on Ireland in the same period, contrasting the different British approach to both countries. There was much more casualties in Mesopotamia than Ireland. Felix C Posted 28 April , 2022 Author Share Posted 28 April , 2022 (edited) Thank you. Regarding Ireland I read Black and Tans by Richard Bennett and Tom Barry's Guerilla Days in Ireland. Plus bought two more books on that topic today thanks to this site. Edited 28 April , 2022 by Felix C

LtGen Sir Aylmer Haldane's book" Insurection in Mesopotamia" covers this period when he was GOC there. NMP have done a recent reprint. "INSURRECTION IN MESOPOTAMIA 1920 - Naval & Military Press" https://www.naval-military-press.com/product/insurrection-in-mesopotamia-1920/ The period covered is after the first Q 1920.
