PeteS Posted 22 March , 2005 Share Posted 22 March , 2005 I have done all of the obvious things, his Soldiers Papers are amongst those burned (not at the PRO), I have a copy of his MIC, copy of the 1901 Census, our pal "Grandson Michael" has kindly helped me with copying lumps from the history of 1st Battalion Essex Regt (Fred Bentall served Dec 1915 until Nov 1919), local newspapers search Braintree area 1918 (both his MM & Bar were awarded in 1918) and searched the web.
