In June 2020, by this photo I discovered my great-uncle William Smith of the 29th Bn CEF who was KIA near Hooge on 8 June 1916 during the Battle of Mount Sorrel.  Per the attached CWGC certificate, he is buried at the New Reninghelst Military Cemetery, grave I.H.5.  My family and I would be very grateful for a photo of his grave/headstone.  Thank you.

I apologize, as a new user/member, I made quite a mess of this.

That's very kind, Michelle, thank you!

PS: obviously got the cemetery name wrong - Reninghelst New Military Cemetery just to set it straight.

Dear Michelle,

Words fail to express my gratitude to Genevra and to you.  This photo with the thoughtful cross and poppy means a great deal.  Maybe I'll get there myself, one day.  Thank you.

Wow. Thank you, Michelle and Genevra  🙏   🙏

PS. William's enlistment docs & census info indicate that he was 22 years old when kia, not 19.

If you have absolute proof of his age, contact the CWGC and ask if they could change his age on the headstone. Its quite easily done nowadays.

Thank you very much.  The birth date on William's enrollment attestation form is one source and I have the census documents thru Ancestry which agree with the attestation info.  I was thinking of contacting CWGC to see if was possible for the headstone to be corrected but have had to attend to other things recently.  With your encouraging note, I will follow-up.

Thanks, again.

In days gone by, the CWGC would replace the whole headstone, but with technology these days, they are able to cut out a small section of the stone and replace it with a blank stone insert, onto which they engrave the correct details. A lot more cost effective too.
