MID for Achangel 1919, Middlesex Regiment

Hi all.

I recently purchased a victory medal to 2778 A.SJT. G. Edgar RAMC. He later transferred to the Middlesex Regiment (NREF on medal roll) with number: L/20803 and was MID for Service at Archangel. He appears in the London Gazette under Commands and Staff, appearing on the same portion of the list as the likes of Grogan and Sadlair- Jackson. 

Would I be right in assuming that he was serving with the HQ of the NREF in some capacity?
