brianmorris547 Posted 26 February , 2022 Share Posted 26 February , 2022 I noticed this in the OCL 08/12/1915 under In the Mediterranean - Suffering from Gas Poisoning. E Lancs Regt 5 Bn Willis 3372 C. This is the first time I have seen any refernce to gas casualties in Gallipoli. The WD of 5 East Lancs has no mention of gas and does not name Other Ranks. The WD of 126 Infantry Brigade from mid October does record that there was a lot of mining activity by both sides with blows which caused some casualties. It must have been that. charlie962 Posted 26 February , 2022 Share Posted 26 February , 2022 (edited) Brian, there is a good discussion on this 2020 thread (ongoing) which included your report amongst others. "Gas, Turks and Gallipoli - 1915 - Gallipoli - The Great War (1914-1918) Forum" https://www.greatwarforum.org/topic/285184-gas-turks-and-gallipoli-1915/#comment-2936658 I'm not sure of the conclusion. Seems to be effects of mining, probable use of lachrymatory gas but ...(I have in mind those long debates on mgs- they were highly divisive but the gas discussion is holding up well with interesting backup) Edited 26 February , 2022 by charlie962
