Remembered Today:

a new documentary movie

Gents,

I'd like to inform you on a new documentary drama on the battle of Gallipoli. The movie is directed by a Turkish director who also made a very good documentary on Hittites before.

I saw fragments of "Gelibolu" and I must say it is a very professional stuff. It will be on show this month here and next month in Australia and NZ. I strongly recommend this piece of work which has a very fair balance among fighting sides with strong emphasis on the life of the fighting soldiers.

Here is the movie's website:

I think this was being filmed when I had the good fortune to be on the Peninsula last September. If it wasnt strange enough walking down to W Beach for an early evening paddle then seeing a team of prop-men constructing barricades and pickets, certainly was!

Ozgur,

Many thanks for bringing this to our attention and for providing the link to the film’s excellent website – it certainly looks like one not to miss

This film can be seen in London during the event

“Receiving its first public screening in Great Britain will be a new Turkish documentary about Gallipoli, directed by Tolga Ornek and made in close association with the Museum, the AWM and the Turkish Military Museum.”

Pals

Having just returned from the Peninsula I was fortunate to meet the

producer of the film at Anzac House in Canakkale.

It is in Turkish but with English sub-titles and if you dont look too

closely into it, it is a fair portrayal of the battle

Dear John,

It is definetely going to be in a (limited) number of movie theatres. This was a rather "big bucks" production so the producer & director want to make a few "Lira's" ...

I'll follow it as close as possible and keep all of you informed with details
