ozgur Posted 17 March , 2005 Share Posted 17 March , 2005 Gents, I'd like to inform you on a new documentary drama on the battle of Gallipoli. The movie is directed by a Turkish director who also made a very good documentary on Hittites before. I saw fragments of "Gelibolu" and I must say it is a very professional stuff. It will be on show this month here and next month in Australia and NZ. I strongly recommend this piece of work which has a very fair balance among fighting sides with strong emphasis on the life of the fighting soldiers. Here is the movie's website: http://www.canakkale-film.com/ Regards Ozgur
Jonathan Saunders Posted 17 March , 2005 Share Posted 17 March , 2005 I think this was being filmed when I had the good fortune to be on the Peninsula last September. If it wasnt strange enough walking down to W Beach for an early evening paddle then seeing a team of prop-men constructing barricades and pickets, certainly was! bluedog Posted 21 May , 2005 Share Posted 21 May , 2005 Pals Having just returned from the Peninsula I was fortunate to meet the producer of the film at Anzac House in Canakkale. It is in Turkish but with English sub-titles and if you dont look too closely into it, it is a fair portrayal of the battle Peter

The Plummed Goose Posted 22 May , 2005 Share Posted 22 May , 2005 Dear John, It is definetely going to be in a (limited) number of movie theatres. This was a rather "big bucks" production so the producer & director want to make a few "Lira's" ... I'll follow it as close as possible and keep all of you informed with details eric
