Any Border Regt experts ?

Pte E Jones 2284 Border (Vic & BWM )and latterly 200940 2/4 Border. (GSM Afghan)

Was he a pre-war regular ? Did he only serve in UK and India ?

Any thoughts comments gratefully received.

Hello,

Sorry, not a Border regt. expert, but his entitlement to the Victory medal would suggest that he was somewhere else in addition to India and the UK. The parent site of the forum states, the Victory medal "was awarded to all those who entered a theatre of war." The site also states that the reason why fewer of these medals were issued (compared to the BWM) was most probably due to the fact that the soldier only saw service in India.

This would suggest your man saw active service somewhere. Probably need to see the medal roll for his battalion to find out exactly where.
