Just reading walking the Somme, I am intrigied to know why the unusual step was taken to name a number of cemetries after Brigadier-General Bertie Prowse (who was mortally wounded on July 1st 1916) ie Prowse Point Ypres Prowse Point at Ploegsteert and Fort Prowse near Auchonvillers. What was so special about General Prowse to have these places named after him, or is it not to unusual to have cemetries named after officers. who chose the names for these areas????.

I have only used the examples from Pauls Book and am not to sure where Fort Prowse is?
