lambo220 Posted 9 February , 2022 Share Posted 9 February , 2022 I've got some references in some War Diaries from Feb/Mar 1916 to GOC Forces in Egypt and CIC Expeditionary Forces in Egypt. Am I right in thinking, the GOC Forces in Egypt was Sir John Maxwell and the CIC in late March was Murray? Thanks
michaeldr Posted 10 February , 2022 Share Posted 10 February , 2022 Maxwell was C-i-C of the 'Force in Egypt' Murray was C-i-C of the MEF Following the withdrawal from Gallipoli, the 'Mediterranean Expeditionary Force' was merged with the 'Force in Egypt' on 10th March 1916, forming the 'Egyptian Expeditionary Force' and Murray was made its commander. Maxwell requested a transfer and later in 1916 was appointed to Dublin
