Remembered Today:

RIMS Irrawaddy

2RWF went up the R Irrawaddy on RIMS Irrawddy in 1907 [Regimental Records]. Frank Richards says "paddle ship" without naming her. NMM have supplied photo and some details of RIMS Irrawaddy, launched 1903, clearly not a paddle ship, and looks huge for river traffic. NMM trace history to about 1920.

Problem. Janes 1418 has RIMS Irrawaddy as a little paddle wheeler, 338 tons, much more likely. No photo.

I find it difficult to believe Royal Indian Mail Service had two Irrawaddys, so what goes on here?

Please help, this is for new edition of Old Soldier Sahib
