charlie962 Posted 21 January , 2022 Share Posted 21 January , 2022 We will try to keep this in topic by seeing if he served in ww1. CandTC is Commissariat and Transport Corps, a Victorian predecessor of the Army Service Corps. Charlie

charlie962 Posted 21 January , 2022 Share Posted 21 January , 2022 Do you have any further info on the man, eg likely date and place of birth? A Lane is not uncommon.
charlie962 Posted 21 January , 2022 Share Posted 21 January , 2022 (edited) There is a 778 Abraham Lane ASC with a military record of some sort. But old, dated 1871. WO 12/10465 At national archives but not digitised. Attested 1865, discharged 1886. He would be too old for ww1 service, I think. Son of John Lane, a locksmith, he married 1876 Portsmouth to Elizabeth Constantine, whilst still serving. Born 1846 London to Harriet and John. This gives you a start for your research. I suspect mods will close this topic but pm me if you need clarification. Charlie Edit. His SVC record is here on Findmypast even tho it suggests born Wolverhampton?
