Hi

Has anyone got a link/list/ bibliography of the various Blue Books, Reports of Commissions, Other Great War Parliamentary Reports published during the War, or after it?

Obvious inclusions would be

The Report of the Dardenelles Commison Cd. 8490, Cd. 8502, & Cmd. 371.

But others examples are:

Health of Munitions Workers Committee.  Report on Sunday Labour. Cd. 8132

Synopsis of British Air Effort During the War. Cmd. 100

Report of the War Office Committee of Enquiry into "Shell-Shock" Cmd 1734

Thanks

Mart

They will all be included in the UK Parliamentary Papers, but that is a ProQuest scheme and only accessible to subscribing libraries (I know LSE subscribes, for example).

Otherwise somebody here may be able to help: https://archives.parliament.uk/our-collections/ or there may be a possibility of tracking them down via the Historic Hansard website https://api.parliament.uk/historic-hansard/index.html.

I've managed to extract 52 from an online general catalogue, but the filtering isn't very effective, so there are quite a few surplus to the search (and I may have missed some as well).

Thank you seaJane, I will investigate. Sounds like a DIY biblography!

It does happen... I have some medical ones filed under Great Britain in my Medicine and the Great War bibliography (see pinned post at the top of the relevant sub-forum).

In researching PoWs of the Turkish I have, of course seen the Parliamentary report on Treatment of Prisoners, 1918, but I get the impression there was another Commission about the same time to whom some men made statements. I've seen reference to Alexandria Commission or even Suez Commission.

Can any of you cast light on this, please?

Thanks

Charlie

I think there may be some reports which were not presented to Parliament, and are therefore not included in the Proquest Database, such as some War Office Reports. From memory Report of the Committee on the Lessons of the Great War also known as the Kirke Report (1932)  is not available on Proquest. [TNA reference WO 33/1297]

Thanks for the correction Maureen. I must say it is not something I have looked into very hard.

As far as the medical ones go, I have provided links to online digitised versions when I have been able to find them.
