This grouping is to a Pilot in the RFC / RAF, who's previous service was with the Navy?

but his commission document states 'land forces' but can someone explain the various markings on the reverse of his 14/15 star please.

Hi

This chap was an Able Seaman earning the 1914/15 Star for service in the Dardenelles Campaign served with Hawke Btn. He was wounded GSW Left Hip and Back evacuated by Hosp ship 28.08.15 and admitted Haslar Hosp ( Portsmouth) on 30.08.15

There is also some mis spelling of his name in some records it is shown as Durban

He had been an officer in the Mercantile Marine before volunteering.

Dear Dawn Patrol,

You get all the good groups! Hopefully also an Image of Lieut. Durham a la longue.

Incidentally, the Atlantic Star comes before the Italy Star (a later campaign).

Interesting that the capable Durham did not bother to have his large medals properly mounted. Perhaps his mounted miniatures sufficed, if at all...

Kindest regards,

Kim.
