adrian 1008 Posted 3 January , 2022 Share Posted 3 January , 2022 Hi This chap was an Able Seaman earning the 1914/15 Star for service in the Dardenelles Campaign served with Hawke Btn. He was wounded GSW Left Hip and Back evacuated by Hosp ship 28.08.15 and admitted Haslar Hosp ( Portsmouth) on 30.08.15 There is also some mis spelling of his name in some records it is shown as Durban Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Volunteered 4 Jan 1915 for London Division RNVR (Official No. London Z/1201 = LZ/1201) and drafted into Hawke Battalion, Royal Naval Division. Served at Gallipoli; commissioned in Regular Army 21 Jan1916 after being invalided home. Incidentally, the Atlantic Star comes before the Italy Star (a later campaign). Interesting that the capable Durham did not bother to have his large medals properly mounted.
