This topic was covered under a posting i made a few years back i think

Midshipman H.M.L Durrant, and, as it turns out, 'An Old Boy' of St. Peters School, York.

Thanks for reply. I'm new to Forum. How do I go about accessing your previous positing?

Reason - researching names, that is all there is, on Burntisland War Memorial. The only William Ernest Baker I can find is one on CWGC but unable to get Burntisland connection. Looked at newspapers but nothing.

Charles,

No it's down to having gone to Kew and doing a look up! His number is on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission entry so it was a simple quick break from my other research.

I thought the forum would like to have the mystery solved.

Many thanks to those who replied to me about William Ernest Baker's Burntisland connection. Special thanks to "per ardua per mare per terram" who got certificates from Kew for me. All help and information much apreciated by this novice.
