MA57 Posted 6 December , 2021 Share Posted 6 December , 2021 Hi, I recently bought this knife. I’m not sure what it is or what time period it was used in. Could anyone help me with the identification?

shippingsteel Posted 6 December , 2021 Share Posted 6 December , 2021 It is obviously meant to be a Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife which was a weapon designed in WW2 as a Commando style weapon. They were principally made by Wilkinson but I have no idea of the authenticity of this example. Closer examination of the makers mark should provide some more info. MikeyH Posted 6 December , 2021 Share Posted 6 December , 2021 (edited) It's upside down, but reads:- William Rodgers Sheffield England. My example is marked 'i cut my way'. Mike. Edited 6 December , 2021 by MikeyH
shippingsteel Posted 6 December , 2021 Share Posted 6 December , 2021 It is of the 3rd Pattern style which William Rodgers did make, but from what I have seen from the markings this example could well be a "copy". More research required ... PS. I have no specific knowledge on these knives Cheers, SS
MikeyH Posted 6 December , 2021 Share Posted 6 December , 2021 William Rodgers made these over many years, mine carries a price marking on the scabbard of 32/6, which probably dates it to the 1960's. Mike.
