WW1? Fighting knife?

WW2 Fairburn-Sykes 'Commando' knife, Google for further information.

It is obviously meant to be a Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife which was a weapon designed in WW2 as a Commando style weapon. They were principally made by Wilkinson but I have no idea of the authenticity of this example. Closer examination of the makers mark should provide some more info.

It's upside down, but reads:- William Rodgers Sheffield England.  My example is marked 'i cut my way'.

It is of the 3rd Pattern style which William Rodgers did make, but from what I have seen from the markings this example could well be a "copy". More research required ... 

PS. I have no specific knowledge on these knives

William Rodgers made these over many years, mine carries a price marking on the scabbard of 32/6, which probably dates it to the 1960's.
