Remembered Today:

RN reason for discharge--RA7?

Hello from a new user!

I'm trying to track down a potential non-com case.  I think I've found the guy, but I need some help figuring out why he was discharged.  The file I got from the National Archives has, in the 'reason for discharge' area, something that looks like RA7.  I have no idea what that's supposed to mean--help would be appreciated.

The portion of the file in question is here:

Welcome to the GWF.

Discharged to the RAF - probably on 31 March/1 April 1918. Presumably an RNAS rating.

Be aware that not all of the ratings who transferred to the RAF remained with that service. Many men stayed with the RAF for just a few months and then returned to the naval service. May we have a name/number for this man?

His Official No. in the Royal Naval Air Service was F.40429. When he transferred to the RAF his new RAF No. was 240429.

Do you have his RAF record?  https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C12495619

RAF Muster Roll here:-  http://www.rafmuseumstoryvault.org.uk/archive/7000171713-mann-w.j  An Aircraftman 2nd Grade (Labourer) in the RNAS; Private 2nd Class (Labourer) in the RAF>

I'm looking through the records now.  I'm starting to think that this might not be the guy I'm wanting....but I'll keep looking.
