andrew pugh Posted 29 November , 2021 Share Posted 29 November , 2021 Good Evening Could anybody tell me which medical unit supported the 61st Machine Gun Corps (Infantry) 61st Division on the 1/11/1918 during an attack on Maresches, in the Crucifix Cemetery area. TEW Posted 30 November , 2021 Share Posted 30 November , 2021 61 Battalion MG Corps of 61st Division. I only have the XVII Corps diaries WO95/945/5 & 945/6. The former gives the medical arrangements up to 31/10/18, the latter has the November diary and new arrangements from 3/11/18. I rarely see seperate Medical Arrangements specific for non-infantry units. I have no idea how the MGC were disposed of for 1/11/18 but I assume dressing stations to CCS would be much the same. They must have had their own system and an MO to get them down to a dressing station. It looks very much like things were being run along a Corps system with field ambulances of 19, 24 & 61 divisions manning different parts of the evacuation & treatment system and evacuating back to the Awoingt group of CCSs which were 38, 45 & 59 or to 2/3 South Midland FA or to 43 CCS. There is a lot of separation mentioned: serious, slight, self-inflicted, infectious, NYD, gas, eye cases, ear/nose/throat cases. Are all being filtered out by different units to be evacuated to different locations. See WO95/945/5 page 115 of TNA download TEW
