KizmeRD Posted 15 October , 2021 Share Posted 15 October , 2021 (edited) In June 1916 four C class submarines (C26, C27, C32 and C35) were towed from Dover via the North Cape to Archangel. From there they were transported down through the White Sea canal, reaching St Petersburg in September 1916. Does anyone know the names of the tug(s) involved in the delivery voyage to North Russia? Was it a dry tow (i.e. were they placed on barges?) - How were they escorted? - What ships accompanied them? Are there any good books I can read in order to discover more about this extraordinary delivery voyage? MB There is a very well researched and substantial 96 page mini-book on the voyage of the four C class in the members only area of the Friends of the RNSM website by David Parry. You would need to join the Friends to get access. You can do that here: https://www.rnsubmusfriends.org.uk/join/ However, the four tugs are named, they are T A Joliffe, Racia, the Revenger and the Hampden ex Southampton.
