Chris_Baker Posted 12 March , 2005 Share Posted 12 March , 2005 Ernest H. Harwood served as 54234 in the Royal Field Artillery. He was a Corporal when he landed sometime in 1915, and became a Warrant Officer Class II (Battery Sjt Major) during the war. He was posted to the RGA where he was renumbered 192575. He continued to serve after 1921, and was renumbered 1413172. Can't get his papers, as they are held by MOD and I am not a relative. Any information about this man would be gratefully received. KONDOA Posted 12 March , 2005 Share Posted 12 March , 2005 There is a group of numbers close to your man which are associated with RGA anti aircraft batteries. It is possible his move from the RFA is associated with this rather than SB which also have number groups in this range. His 192 number is consistent with a group of RFA numbers that transferred to the RGA. He may have taken this number with him to the RGA fom the RFA.Or his unit was converted and he remained put. Usual caveats apply with this . Roop
Paul Reed Posted 12 March , 2005 Share Posted 12 March , 2005 Ernest H. Harwood served as 54234 in the Royal Field Artillery. He was a Corporal when he landed sometime in 1915... How about a specific date, Chris, from his MIC? Might be a clue to his original unit?
Chris_Baker Posted 12 March , 2005 Author Share Posted 12 March , 2005 Yes, I should have told you that. My "sometime in 1915" was actually 20 December 1914. 27th Division?
