seaJane Posted 22 September , 2021 Share Posted 22 September , 2021 I was in Salisbury Guildhall last Saturday (being shown round to look at access issues for the Old Courtroom production of Trial by Jury in October) and spotted these in one of the rooms. Apologies for the poor quality of photo - reflections on glass, etc.

He retired from the Reserve of officers in 1923 and was recalled in 1939 according to http://bedfordregiment.org.uk/7thbn/tomadlamvc.html, so was not in service in 1935. Not my area of expertise but I'm baffled as to why the Italians would have been interested in what went on at Thiepval?

Hi seaJane The allies gave each other Decorations and awards to be given to deserving personnel. A recipient of a foreign award did not have to even serve with or in the country of origin. It was one way of keeping morale up. There were approx 366 silver medals gazetted to the commonwealth forces upto 1925. Peter
