Looks possibly like empty cordite cases, you can see some being transported next to the shells on the wagons. Sorry about the size…..bit late to fiddle with the picture size

Cylinders, Cartridge, "C" Pattern - zinc cylinders for packing the cartridges for Breech Loading guns, 6-inch to 12-inch. "C" pattern have the handles on the side, while "B" pattern have the handles on top of the lid.

I did not find an image of this astonishing cylinders on the internet

if I understood correctly it is about "sylinders" used to contain cartridges?

Unfortunately no photos, but a drawing. Each cylinder would contain the propellant (cordite, NCT, etc) cartridge and a black powder igniter charge.
