familyhistoryman Posted 20 July , 2021 Share Posted 20 July , 2021 Hi, I need help with identifying the regiment of this man. From the cap badge, could it be the Lancashire Fusiliers? Tony
Alan24 Posted 20 July , 2021 Share Posted 20 July , 2021 That is an LF cap badge. From what I can tell, Regulars, Service Battalions and Territorials all used the same badge. From his belt, I'd say he was in a service battalion but others will have more forensic knowledge than myself.
FROGSMILE Posted 20 July , 2021 Share Posted 20 July , 2021 (edited) I concur with Alan24, the LF badge is clear and the 1914 leather equipment and rifle sling make a war-raised ‘service battalion’ from Kitchener’s New Armies likely. It’s also possible to make out the shoulder titles. Edited 20 July , 2021 by FROGSMILE
AndrewSid Posted 21 July , 2021 Share Posted 21 July , 2021 Having just been working through two great uncles who both spent time in the Lancashire Fusiliers then yes, its definitely that Regiment.
