gmac101 Posted 20 June , 2021 Share Posted 20 June , 2021 I was searching the internet on the above subject and found on the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh a collection of photographs taken by Captain Henry Wade, a surgeon with the field ambulance - apologies if everyone is aware of it but a couple of searches on here didn't bring any mentions. The photographs cover the units training in the UK and then deployment to Gallipoli, Egypt and Palestine from 1914-19 They show training, equipment, troops, lodgings, ceremonies and a number of swimming parades both off the NE coast in the North Sea and in the Suez canal The photos can be found here: https://archiveandlibrary.rcsed.ac.uk/special-collections/henry-wade-ww1-photographic-collection Hope somebody finds them interesting, My Great great Uncle was Captain William Brown who appears in a couple of photos - Capt H Wade does take the time to name a number of the NCO's and Privates who appear which is a nice change to many FWW photos
Skipman Posted 21 June , 2021 Share Posted 21 June , 2021 Very nice, well presented and thanks for posting. Have you been in touch with The Scottish Horse Museum at Dunkeld. I will send them a link if that's ok? Mike

Mike The RCS provides a link to the Dunkeld archive in the preamble to the photo collection - by the way if your are interested they have a couple of other special collections https://archiveandlibrary.rcsed.ac.uk/special-collections/scottish-womens-hospitals-for-foreign-service? https://archiveandlibrary.rcsed.ac.uk/special-collections/craighleith-military-hospital-western-general-1917? Three men on a roll of honour which I am researching served with the Scottish Horse Field Ambulance. It took me a little while to think with which unit they served since the RoH gives their unit as RAMCSH. RM
