MERLINV12 Posted 11 June , 2021 Share Posted 11 June , 2021 The screenshot below was taken from my Ancestry account, however the highlighted name, town or village makes no sense, I cannot find any such place as Cockeram-Cogdon, Cockeram, or Cogdon, which I assume is a UK location. I am presuming the "W" would be the county, which can only be Warwickshire, Wiltshire, or maybe West Yorkshire in 1917. Could someone please check the original document on Fold 3, to see if it is a transcribing error, or typo, or if it shows something different, or the "county" in full. TIA. jonbem Posted 11 June , 2021 Share Posted 11 June , 2021 (edited) I believe that it is a reference to the file or list of names on the index eg the list starts with the surname Cockeram and ends with Cogdon W, thus Coffey falls alphabetically between those rgds Jon Edited 11 June , 2021 by jonbem
MERLINV12 Posted 11 June , 2021 Author Share Posted 11 June , 2021 (edited) That was fast !!!!! What you suggest had not even occurred to me , you may well be right, would still be good to know what the original says, to be 110% sure.
