Paul D Posted 9 June , 2021 Share Posted 9 June , 2021 Good evening, I'm currently researching a soldier who served with 10th Buffs and whose service number was G/23670. I know that the 10th Buffs were formed in Feb 1917 from 1/1 Royal East Kent and 1/1 Queens Own West Kent Yeomanry and I'm guessing they were given new service numbers on the formation of the new battalion. My question is, can anybody assist tie down the date of likely enlistment from this number please? He also served as 79254 with the Royal West Surreys, but I think that was after his service with the Buffs. Grateful for any assistance. Have a good evening Paul
Admin RussT Posted 9 June , 2021 Admin Share Posted 9 June , 2021 Records show that the EKR number G/23670 would have been allotted to men joining the 3rd (Res) Bn in mid May 1917. Regards Russ
