River97 Posted 4 June , 2021 Share Posted 4 June , 2021 (edited) Hi all, it’s been a while since I posted something. I submitted a list of names to the Australian War Memorial some time ago of service members who I believed had been missed from commemoration on the brass Roll of Honour. This afternoon I received the following; Dear Andrew, I am writing to update you on names which you have submitted for consideration for the Australian War Memorial’s Roll of Honour. I am pleased to tell you that the follow people have since been accepted for addition to the Roll of Honour: · Bernard Walter Howarth - https://www.awm.gov.au/collection/R2748315 · Ernest Vivian William Sneyd - https://www.awm.gov.au/collection/R2748329 · Francis Tinline Robinson - https://www.awm.gov.au/collection/R2678059 · Edward Thomas Molloy - https://www.awm.gov.au/collection/R2799325 · Herbert William Hart - https://www.awm.gov.au/collection/R2735851 · John Charles Jope - https://www.awm.gov.au/collection/R2778365 · Joseph James Teague - https://www.awm.gov.au/collection/R2748325 · Leopold Florence Scarlett - https://www.awm.gov.au/collection/R2799522 · William Marwood Beaudoin - https://www.awm.gov.au/collection/R2735842 These names will be cast onto the supplementary panel for the First World War when it is next recast. At current I do not have a time frame for the recast but will update you when progress is made. A name you submitted, Charles Henderson, was already on the Roll of Honour although under the name Chas Henderson. I have since amended his name to Charles, which can be viewed online here: https://www.awm.gov.au/collection/R1635638 There were an additional 24 names who were not successful due to various circumstances. Lieutenant Scarlett was an Australian Submariner aboard the HMAS AE1 when she went down. Cheers, Andy. Edited 4 June , 2021 by River97
River97 Posted 4 June , 2021 Author Share Posted 4 June , 2021 As a side note, the Supplementary Panel is recast roughly every two years. It’s rather humbling to know these nine will now get their names on the panels at the Australian War Memorial. Soon these boys will get to live forever. Cheers, Andy.
