Ireland had 26 executed (subject to the British Army Act, but after the 1916 uprising I am not sure) Each has groups campaigning for individual pardon. All seem to have been subject to the same Army act, but like the New Zealanders and the Aussies, it seems confirmation of the death penalty was down to their respective governments. mordac Posted 20 June , 2003 Share Posted 20 June , 2003 Canada had 25 shot. Hi Steve and John: Of the number quoted, 23 CEF members were shot at dawn for desertion and 2 were executed for murder. On December 11, 2001 the Government of Canada formally announced its regrets and offered an apology for the execution of the 23 Canadians for desertion.
