Dr ELG Posted 3 May , 2021 Share Posted 3 May , 2021 Hi everyone, Please could somebody help me to identify this cap badge? I would be very grateful. I don't have any information about the photo. Does anyone recognise the building? Many thanks
Admin Michelle Young Posted 3 May , 2021 Admin Share Posted 3 May , 2021 The bottom photo shows a man badged to the Royal Artillery. He wears Sgts stripes and a badge with crossed swords, I'm away from my books at th moment and can't recall what that is! Michelle

FROGSMILE Posted 3 May , 2021 Share Posted 3 May , 2021 (edited) This is the badge and above three stripes it indicates Assistant Physical Training Instructor (APTI), which signified a qualified instructor badged to a regiment outside the Army Gymnastic Staff (AGS). He was known to the troops phonetically as an ‘Ack Eye’ - A.I. - Assistant Instructor. The badge shown by Barry is a headdress badge for the AGS. I’m glad to help. I’ve seen the building in the background before. It’s a barracks headquarters and at the top apex of the roof you can just see a large Victorian coat of arms cut from stone. Thanks again I think it might be one of the many old barracks then located in Woolwich Garrison, there were several, including Shrapnel Barracks, Red Barracks, plus one or two more, in addition to the main Artillery Barracks that is the sole survivor.
