andy1400 Posted 3 March , 2005 Share Posted 3 March , 2005 I am researching a relative, John Rondeau, who served in the CEF. He enlisted in November 1918, but on his papers it said that he had served 9 years RCGA permenant force and 6 years RGA Imperial Force. Would anyone be able to tell me if that means he served on active service or that he was stationed in Canada
N.S.Regt. Posted 4 March , 2005 Share Posted 4 March , 2005 Andy Your relative has a interesting number according to my reference it is supposed to be unalotted so I wonder if it was a error on his Attestation Paper. The 10 Halifax Seige was alloted the Block just prior to his. I see that he was living and enlisted in Halifax and I assume he would have been stationed around the city. The RCGA were in charge of the harbour defences in Halifax, there are are number of forts that ring the harbour York Redoubt, Point Pleasant Park and Macnabs Island to name a few. If you PM me with your Email I will see if I can Scan some information that may help explain this better then I could. Regards Stephen
