Remembered Today:

That Freddie Flintoff/Jamie Redknapp DNA Thingy on ITV...

I don't know if anyone saw that DNA thingy on ITV last night?

Very poor research from the "Expert"...IMHO

Albert Flintoff - A Coy. 8th Kings Liverpool. Records on FMP show that he was admitted to 34CCS with shell shock 15 August 1916.

The Expert had the medal rolls and told Freddie "Whatever he did in the war, it was enough that they awarded him the Victory Medal".

No mention that he also had the BWM.

Later in the programme Freddie says to a family member "He got shell shock, he probably got the [Victory] medal for that".

Earlier in the programme a relative of Redknapp was shown to have been awarded the Edward Medal for life saving in a mining disaster around 1911.

They seem to be confusing Flintoff's campaign medal with a gallantry award.

It was either poorly researched or poorly presented...or both.

Just for the record, WDYTYA is much better..

You might find the arborial toileting habits of certain members of the ursine community quite interesting. I believe the Religion of the Holy Father is also quite surprising.

Not sure that Flintoff’s DNA counts as culture!

As someone once said: 'I've seen more culture on a petri dish'.

Talking DNA...

My inbox contained an email from Ancestry this week.

'Give Mother a Real Mothers Day Treat. Give her an Ancestry DNA test.

Hmm. I can see some awkward questions a few months down the line.

"So... Mummy, how come all my siblings have DNA matches in Croydon...

...and mine are all in Ibiza?

Does anyone believe that at some point all this info will be sold on and insurance companies will be delighted.
