Hi,

My relation James Donald Pead died of disease whilst a Prisoner of War of the Ottoman Turks on 30th July 1916. He is commemorated on the Basra Memorial in Iraq on Panel 60.

It is the actual panel I am interested as I have all the info regarding James' record etc. Does anyone have a photograph of this panel??

many thanks
John

John, Welcome to the Forum.

I'd previously started a thread here on the forum trying to identify all naval personnel taken prisoner at the fall of Kut. I'd identified JD Pead, DSM,as a member of the crew of Sumana, the gunboat that did sterling work under its commander, Tudway, both before the siege and during.

Do you have any additional info on his time ? any info on his comrades, his own fate, any new names I can add to my list (see the table on page 2 of my thread). I am keen to know that what I have put so far is correct and to add any new scraps of info. Even a photo?

Thanks

Charlie
