PENSION CARD - "MORT"

I know there is another thread about "DEAD" on pension cards

Is this "MORT" a 'posh' variation on the same theme of a claim being "DEAD"?

[On a 'Survivor's Card' = Robert BAGSHAW, 275908, Royal Scots - a disability pension ledger card is available but reveals little to me, other than he had an address of 2 St David's Place, Edinburgh, which would seem to match the passing of his claim to the Scottish Region on this card]

Or has it perhaps another meaning?

???

Not seen Mort on a card before today I can see at least half a dozen more, all Scottish. It seems someone had departed from the usual 'Dead' and had stamps with 'Mort' instead.

Isn't Mort also Scottish Gaelic for "Dead"?

I didn't know until you suggested it, but it seems so ... or Murt - to kill off etc.

... and I was thinking it was French! [from Auld Alliance days?] - Pretentious, Moi?

Same/same.

We may perhaps have looked at the same cards [?] - but the other ones I have seen had Scottish addresses or Scottish regiments.
