His name and details are; William Sloan Sapper 503460 2nd Tunnelling Coy, Canadian Engineers Who died on Wednesday, 28th June, France and Flanders, 1916. Commemorated at RAILWAY DUGOUTS BURIAL GROUND, Ieper, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Grave Reference/Panel Number: VI. H. 18. Enlisted. 6th February 1915 at Puncher Creek, Canada. Previous employment. James Brown Posted 28 February , 2005 Author Share Posted 28 February , 2005 I have found that William Sloan, 2nd Tunnelling Coy. was part of the 2nd Canadian Division. In the local paper of the day it said that he was killed by shrapnel shelling while on transport duty.
