GMB Posted 12 January , 2021 Share Posted 12 January , 2021 Something people may be interested in. Photo/postcard dated Dec 1914, showing a team picture of the Welsh Royal Artillery (so I am aware), prior to their match against the 4th London RFA in Edinburgh, November 1914. Does anyone know more about either teams?
David Porter Posted 12 January , 2021 Share Posted 12 January , 2021 For what it is worth the 1/4th London (Howitzer) Brigade RFA were definitely in Edinburgh in November 1914. As for their opponents at football it looks like a unit of the RAMC. I'm not sure any Welsh units went anywhere near there in the early months of the war. It is only the postcard that was sent to South Wales.
Dai Bach y Sowldiwr Posted 12 January , 2021 Share Posted 12 January , 2021 It certainly looks like 'RAMC AFC' written on the front, and the reference to a bandaging class would fit.
GMB Posted 13 January , 2021 Author Share Posted 13 January , 2021 Cheers both - I cannot believe I have been racking my brains to work out what it said on the front, but since you mentioned RAMC, it is clear as day! Initially caught my eye as it can be attributed as 'localish' to myself, one I can do some digging on over the coming weeks.
