Hedley Malloch Posted 26 December , 2020 Share Posted 26 December , 2020 Saw this headstone in a churchyard in Redmile, Leicestershire. The inscription reads:‘the world is a city full of crooked streets,Death is the market place where all men meet,If life were merchandise which money could buy,Then the rich would live and the poor would die.’Dated 1690 I have seen the first two lines on a CWGC headstone - but where? Hedley Malloch Posted 27 December , 2020 Author Share Posted 27 December , 2020 IPT: Thank you for this. Zillebeke Churchyard CWGC - the Aristocrat's Cemetery. I think I understand why his parents did not include the last two lines if the verse.
