mhifle Posted 17 November , 2020 Share Posted 17 November , 2020 Hi, I cannot seem to find anything on this man. Lieutenant W A Lafontaine, Intelligence Corps attached to MI5 from 10 June 1918 to 26 June 1919, and served in Rome. Maybe the name is La Fontaine? Any help would be great Regards Mark

corisande Posted 18 November , 2020 Share Posted 18 November , 2020 I cannot claim to have found him, but what is odd is where there is no sign of him not in LG not in Army List not in MICs not Canadian either ( I thought he might be French Canadian)
mhifle Posted 18 November , 2020 Author Share Posted 18 November , 2020 I did find this from 1936
corisande Posted 18 November , 2020 Share Posted 18 November , 2020 The Lt Col does not have any initials, so could have been anybody? . Oddly there were quite a few on Long Number files, who look to have been in Intelligence. And TNA shakes out a few more , but not the one you want

On the list in Ancestry there are a few "Belgian Agents" as well as Intelligence Corps men https://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/collections/1262/?name=_la+fontaine&count=50&name_x=1_1 https://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/collections/1262/?name=_lafontaine&count=50&name_x=1_1
mhifle Posted 18 November , 2020 Author Share Posted 18 November , 2020 I think he would have a Medal Entitlement but would have to apply if he is an Officer
