robigunner88 Posted 7 November , 2020 Share Posted 7 November , 2020 Hi all, I came across a thread on Twitter this morning by a journalist in Iraq who has recently visited Baghdad (North Gate) War Cemetery and posted a dozen or so photos. Alan24 Posted 7 November , 2020 Share Posted 7 November , 2020 (edited) Good to see that those places which are difficult for average people to visit are not forgotten this weekend. Strange that she felt the need to photoshop out the names on headstones. Never seen that done before. Edited 7 November , 2020 by Alan24

pearsonica Posted 4 December , 2020 Share Posted 4 December , 2020 Hi I am looking for the grave of Captain Alfred Christopher Pearson - 9th Bn Royal Warwickshire Regiment. He died on 4th April 1919 in Zahko. His body was recovered and Buried at Baghdad North Gate War Cemetery - Ref XIX. F. 12. After being injured in 1917 on the Advance to Baghdad he learnt Arabic and became one of Gertrude Bell's Political Officers. His death was announced at the Paris Peace Conference in 1919. This is the last picture of him (center) surrounded with local Officials and Goran Kurds taken in March 1919. (I have colorized his original Photo) Regards Ian C Pearson
TullochArd Posted 4 December , 2020 Share Posted 4 December , 2020 (edited) Not a grave photo but a few more photos of him at: Captain Alfred Christopher Pearson (Unknown-1919) - Find A Grave Memorial and a huge number at: https://livesofthefirstworldwar.iwm.org.uk/lifestory/3450647 (but I suspect you know about the latter already!) Regarding the colourisation - should the Staff Officer tabs on his collar (and his chum) be red? Edited 4 December , 2020 by TullochArd
