Remembered Today:

1/7th Royal Warwickshire Regiment

Greetings from New Zealand,

I am researching the above regiment and unfortunately being in New Zealand it is impossible to get to the PRO or the regimental museum in Warwick.

My Grandfather Ernest Maynard Pte 2231 served with them from May 1915 until Nov 1917 when he was transferred to the MGC.

Like so many ex-servicemen Ernie never spoke about his experiences during the war. He died at the age of 98 in 1995. Now I have to do the investigating.

Does anybody have a copy of the 1/7th war diary ? or any information about the 1/7th ? I have searched and searched online and only found fleeting and brief mentions.

Thanks.

KiwiKeith

Keith,

A good start would be to check out the main website, look under 'Grandads War'.

Threre is lots of information on the main site. Check under infantry regiments for the Warwickshires, you can follow their service there.

There is a Territorial Force section which contains some good information somewhere on the main site, but I can't seem to find it at the moment.

There are also some forum members specialising on the Warwicks who might be able to help.

Also check out the forum sub-section 'document repository'. There may be something of interest there.

Regards,

Steve.
