Hedley Malloch Posted 3 October , 2020 Share Posted 3 October , 2020 Many people here will be familiar with the Mémoire des Hommes, www.memoiredeshommes.sga.defense.gouv.fr, the on-line data base of French soldiers killed in WW1. Plans have been announced to add details of the burial locations of those soldiers interred in the nécropoles nationales and in graves in communal cemeteries maintained by the Defence Ministry. The data base will be called 'Sépultures de guerre' and will be searchable by name. It will contain 660,000 names.

Hello, That is already online a very long time: https://www.memoiredeshommes.sga.defense.gouv.fr/fr/article.php?larub=44&titre=sepultures-de-guerre Jan
Keith_history_buff Posted 3 October , 2020 Share Posted 3 October , 2020 How interesting. Thanks for taking the time to share this, and Jan's link also directs to the search facility for the 'Sépultures de guerre' dataset. What amazes me is how, despite state funding behind MdH, the mémorialgenweb site, with info provided by volunteers (and presumably funded by donations), seems to run rings around MdH: http://www.memorialgenweb.org/memorial3/html/fr/index.php
