MatthewT Posted 24 February , 2005 Share Posted 24 February , 2005 Following some information from the Sherwood Foresters Museum regarding my Great Great Uncle I am keen to see if I can locate a copy of the actual statement he made to the board on the action he saw on a particular day. Statement reads: Took part in the action 23.3.1918 and gave evidence as to casualties to the board (attended by Captain Clifford and captain Quibell DSO) held at Steenvoorde on 9.4 1918 when he tendered a statement as to what he had seen of the action that day. Is this possible and if so where do you start?! Matt
Guest steveb21 Posted 24 February , 2005 Share Posted 24 February , 2005 Mate, The AWM and ANA (Austraian War Memorial and Aust National Archives) have these documents kept on most (but not all) Inquiries carried out during the war. The amount of info in these is great while others there is not much. Now the UK must have held these also the problem is finding them. The first place could be checking the PRO webb site on how to look for this or talking to someone at the IWM or PRO. Good luck S.B

Paul Reed Posted 1 March , 2005 Share Posted 1 March , 2005 The originals of these documents sadly do not survive in the UK. It is likely they were destroyed by bombing in WW2.
