PaulC78 Posted 25 September , 2020 Share Posted 25 September , 2020 (edited) Maghull North is a fairly new railway station in Merseyside which opened on 18 June 2018 and was built on the former site of Moss Side Hospital which treated wounded soldiers during WW1. A statue named "Compassion in Conflict" was unveiled there on 7 December 2018, 103 years to the day since the first soldiers arrived at the hospital. The sculptor was Andrew Edwards and the plaques contain information about the hospital as well as poets Siegfried Sassoon and Wilfred Owen and shot at dawn Jimmy Smith, all of whom suffered from shell shock.
