The ossuary at Redipuglia, where the bones of 100,000 men are interred. An Ansaldo 149 howitzer at Redipuglia. An Austro-Hungarian tunnel on Monte San Michele, on the western edge of the Carso Trenches on Monte San Michele Austro-Hungarian positions on Quota 588 (Mengore Hill) near Tolmin We explored Quota 588 on horseback, which was fantastic. This is Son No.3 outside an Austro-Hungarian cavern. Monte Vodice, with Monte Santo in the distance, and Monte San Gabriele beyond. More to follow shortly... tomisitt Posted 30 August , 2020 Author Share Posted 30 August , 2020 A few more: Trenches on Monte San Gabriele Found an Austrian hand grenade Positions on Monte Nero (Krn) overlooking the Isonzo valley from 7000ft Barbed wire on Monte Nero, with Monte Rosso (Batognica) in the distance Monte Rombon, as seen from Monte Kanin The Isonzo (Soča) river near Bovec, with Monte Rombon visible top left Memorial to Maria Plozner Mentil, one of the female porters (portatrici Carniche) who carried supplies up to the front lines.
