I appreciate that there have been other posts regarding this but this is my opinion.Visited yesterday...and it’s free... and finding the Hospital Train to me was a bonus. An area I have never done much research In so I found every aspect very very informative. The plans of train 34 were fascinating. The quotes on the panels informative.I cannot say it’s worth a long drive or train journey but visit their website www.railwaymuseum.org.uk and the complete story is there.I am more than happy to extend my knowledge of the complexities of the War when and where I can.

Here are two websites with more information.  Borden Battery

Ambulance Trains – National Railway Museum

A simple but clever little website with the essentials regarding the Ambulance Trains which transported hundreds of thousands of wounded soldiers during the Great War.  The opening page has a neat surprise. Basically, a moving hospital. [Recommended by elewis – GWF] [CEF Study Group – Sept 2020]

WWI Ambulance TrainsThe Smithsonian Channel

During World War I, the British converted a large number of commuter train cars into ambulance cars. This was mobile hospital which had the facilities to cater up to 500 men. Staff lived on the train.
