Chris Henschke Posted 22 February , 2005 Share Posted 22 February , 2005 Map title Sonderkarte Quéant. Correct to 9.3.18. I have a 1 : 10,000 map printed for Gruppe-Arras. Two “Revolver Kanone” are marked, approximately 600m and 1000m South of Bullecourt. Any one know what type of weapon they represent?
mebu Posted 23 February , 2005 Share Posted 23 February , 2005 Not my field, Chris, but I looked at list of conventional German signs for artillery, this list is attached.....unfortunately this didn't help, just confused the issue, as the signs on the map are normal MG, and revolving kanone have a totally different sign....anyone else any ideas? I would suggest that the position of the pices points to something light, in the trench, rather than anything heavier. Peter.
Chris Henschke Posted 24 February , 2005 Author Share Posted 24 February , 2005 Peter, thanks for that reference. I'll file that away. I should have added that the 'Revolver Kanone' on the map are well inside the British side of the line, so it must be some weapon with which we are all familiar. Did you notice that the map was printed the month before the March offensive? regards, Chris
