mbriscoe Posted 11 August , 2020 Share Posted 11 August , 2020 Just added some images of the Alexandria / Vale Of Leven War Memorial to the IWM WMR and looking up some dates. Seeing a decision to site in Christie Park early in 1919 then a proposal to site a trophy gun there also but not found the unveiling date yet. I am puzzled by this news item - Vale of Leven is the correct name of the memorial Quote Sunday Post - Sunday 27 June 1920 In presence of a large gathering, the Vale of Leven War Memorial was unveiled by Sir lan Colquhoun, D.S.O., of Rossdhu, Luss, Loch Lomondside, the Lord-Lieutenant of Dumbartonshire, yesterday. Sixty-four names are inscribed on the memorial. I have not counted the names yet but as can be seen beloe there are a lot more than sixty four names on it so a bit puzzled.
