alastaircox Posted 10 August , 2020 Share Posted 10 August , 2020 I have a silver trophy on plinth presented by Miss Riddel for proficiency in signalling to Miss Ethel Jackson, 1914-15 and 1915-16. The trophy carries English hallmarks. Any thoughts on who or what RCTC might be? Royal Calcutta Turf Club? It may of course have nothing to do with the Great War, in which case I apologise. CountryJohn Posted 11 August , 2020 Share Posted 11 August , 2020 If I am reading the hallmark on the RCTC Presented By ... plaque (third picture) correctly as 'Anchor', 'Lion', 'k', then that resolves to Birmingham 1909. C_J
alastaircox Posted 11 August , 2020 Author Share Posted 11 August , 2020 Quite right John, that plaque likely sat in someone's stock for a few years before it was engraved and used. Not at all uncommon with silver.
